Fair Lawn...

More than 300 years ago, the area known as Fair Lawn was settled by Dutch fur traders who came up the Hackensack and Passaic Rivers to barter with the Hackinghesaky Indians of the Lenni-Lenape Tribe. The Borough was first known as Slooterdam, then Small Lots and it finally became part of Saddle River Township. It seceded in 1924 and became known as Fairlawn Borough. Since 1933, the spelling of the borough name has been established as Fair Lawn.

Fair Lawn is located in the west central part of Bergen County, eleven miles west of the George Washington Bridge. It occupies 5.4 square miles and is bounded by Glen Rock, Hawthorne, Elmwood Park, Saddle Brook and Paramus. It is easily accessible from Routes 4, 17, 208, I-80, I-95 and is approximately 45 minutes from Newark International Airport.

Because of the easy commute and the affordability of the homes, Fair Lawn has become a very hot town for 1st time buyers from NYC and people moving from other towns in southern Bergen County.
